Side Trip Travel

The Mission

Create an informational blog for Travelers and Travel Nurses utilizing photographic and written experiences to help them choose activities, restaurants, and tools to experience the most with their time when on assignment or vacation.

Hi I’m Andrew, with Side Trip Travel, I am a nomad, adventurer, and foodie. My goal with this website is to provide you all with information on events, restaurants, and activities within the cities you are traveling to. I will also have information and tools specific to Travel Nurses in an effort to help you have a great experience on your assignments.
What is a Travel Nurse?

A Travel Nurse is a Registered Nurse who chooses assignments at hospitals within cities that are in need of staff. These assignments are usually 13 weeks in duration and can be anywhere in the United States. We work a variety of shifts and all different hours per week depending on the type of nurse. However, this leaves plenty of time to enjoy the sites around each area!

GUeSs wHaT! I am a Traveling Nurse, I am able to scour a city over three months at a time, sifting through recommendations from friends, colleagues, and websites to give you three months of the nitty gritty and an ultimate list of top things to do. In addition, I have the experience to give you the information YOU need to be efficient and stress free during your assignments.

It took me years to realize that when I get to a new city, I have no idea what to do, where to go or even where to eat for the first few weeks. Yes, you look on the internet! Yes, you ask friends before you go! But do you really know the best restaurants, hikes, bikes, events, and activities… or even where to find them…. Exactly, tough work.

I will do my best and be honest about each of the things I do in order to provide a vivid real deal description of the places I go. In addition, at the end of my three months in a city I will make a list of the top 3-5 things to do. Additionally, throughout this journey I will provide information and tools to help out the fellow travel nurse or other who are interested in starting their first assignment.

A little history about my life…

I am a 31 year old Registered Nurse who had the opportunity to take life on the road. After 4 years sitting behind a desk as a business manager peeling through spreadsheets and wishing I was traveling, I decided to leave the 9a-5p and choose the 7a -7pm – 3 day a week, #nurselife. After gaining experience as a nurse I started travel nursing with my girlfriend, Sarah (who also happens to be a Travel Nurse). We have been on the road for 16 months eating, drinking, and playing through 5 different cities.

Welcome to the Family!
